Whales & dolphins & sunrise
Enjoy the ambiance and light of a summer's early morning as we head out to sea in search of marine life.
It is near the deep ocean trenches that we can observe the striped dolphin, bottlenose dolphin, Risso's dolphin, long-finned pilot whale, sperm whale, and finally, the second largest animal on the planet: the fin whale, the only resident whale in the Mediterranean.
Accompanied by naturalists and photographers from Découverte du Vivant, we will offer an onboard presentation, as well as talks over the microphone, covering biological aspects of all the species encountered during the trip. La Croix du Sud V is a member of 'High Quality Whale Watching®', guaranteeing sustainable and respectful whale watching.
The abundance of cetaceans in the area led to the creation of the Pelagos Sanctuary.
During this cruise, you'll have the opportunity to observe other marine wildlife: seabirds, sunfish, loggerhead turtles, bluefin tuna, swordfish, and Mediterranean devil squid.
For each cruise, a photo report is provided free of charge by the professional photographers of Découverte du Vivant. This allows you to fully enjoy the encounters without worrying about taking souvenir photos.
GOOD WEATHER CONDITIONS
Good weather conditions increase the chances of seeing whales and dolphins. More than just clear skies, it is the wind strength that will determine whether or not we can set sail. In calm seas, the slightest sign (fin, back, blow) on the surface of the water is visible from miles away. However, in winds above force 4, it becomes difficult to make successful observations due to the blow.
IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER
Confirmation of the cruise is determined by the weather reports issued 24 hours before departure. In the event of cancellation, registered participants will receive an email and a text message. Those who have booked on our website will have the option of postponing their booking using a postponement code, or receiving a refund (except for gift vouchers) via an online request. Those who have booked directly at the dock will be asked to contact us to postpone or come to the dock for a refund (except for gift vouchers).
No refunds will be made to people who did not participate in the booked cruise without a valid reason. We can cancel your reservation if we are notified at least 24 hours in advance. Please also note that postponement to a later date is not automatic.
WHAT TO BRING?
Picnic, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat (that stays on!), windbreaker, and sweater (especially in spring and fall). Coffee and cold drinks are available for purchase on board.

The sea cruise is accessible to people with disabilities. For people with reduced mobility, the boat can accommodate two standard wheelchairs (no motorized wheelchairs). Please note, however, that the toilets are not wheelchair accessible as they are too narrow.
