Dolphins & Porquerolles island
Departing from the port of Sanary-sur-Mer, we offer a dolphin-watching cruise (4 hours) off the Hyères Islands, as well as a relaxing stopover of approximately 2.5 hours on the island of Porquerolles.
Right from the start, we may have the chance to encounter bottlenose dolphins that frequent the coastal areas. As we head out to sea and approach the underwater canyons, three other dolphin species can be seen:
The striped dolphin (the most abundant species in the Mediterranean), the Risso's dolphin, and the short-finned pilot whale.
Depending on the number of encounters and the time available, we will try to visit whale-watching areas, which are regularly observed.
Accompanied by naturalists and photographers from Découverte du Vivant, we will offer an onboard presentation, as well as talks over the microphone, covering biological aspects of all the species encountered during the trip. La Croix du Sud V is a member of 'High Quality Whale Watching®', guaranteeing sustainable and respectful whale watching.
During each cruise, a free visual report is provided by the naturalists from Découverte du Vivant.
You will also disembark for a free stopover on the island of Porquerolles. This is an opportunity to discover its picturesque village, wild landscapes, and heavenly coves.

GOOD WEATHER CONDITIONS
Good weather guarantees the chance to observe whales and dolphins. It is mainly the strength of the wind and the swell that will allow us to set sail or not. In calm seas, the slightest sign (fin, back, blow) on the surface of the water is visible for miles. However, above a force 4 wind, it becomes difficult to make fruitful observations with the foam.
IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER
Confirmation of the cruise is determined by the publication of weather reports issued 24 hours before departure. In the event of cancellation, registered participants will receive an email and a text message. Those who booked on our website will have the option to postpone their reservation or receive a refund (except for gift vouchers) via the link provided. For those who booked directly at the dock, they will be asked to contact us again for rescheduling or to come to the dock for a refund.
No refunds will be issued to those who did not participate in the booked cruise without a valid reason (medical certificate).
WHAT TO BRING?
Sunscreen, sunglasses, a cap (that stays on well!), a windbreaker, and a sweater (especially in spring and fall). You are welcome to bring a picnic if you wish. Coffee and soft drinks are available on board.
DISABLED ACCESS
The cruise is accessible to people with disabilities. For people with reduced mobility, the boat can accommodate two standard wheelchairs (no motorized wheelchairs). The restrooms are not wheelchair accessible due to their narrowness.
PETS
Dogs, cats, and hamsters are not allowed on board.
