Whales and dolphins - 10h
Observing cetaceans and offshore wildlife requires patience, expertise, and time. That's why we invite you to join us for a 10-hour long trip during two exceptional outings in 2026, to maximize our chances of observing many pelagic species.
We will visit rarely explored areas off Cape Sicié and around isolated seamounts, where cetaceans, fish, and seabirds are more abundant.
The season is very favorable for encountering most of the iconic species (fin whales, bottlenose dolphins, etc.) and also offers the possibility of rarer encounters such as Risso's dolphins or gatherings of sperm whales. In addition, Croix du Sud V is a member of 'High Quality Whale Watching®', guaranteeing a sustainable and respectful quality of whale watching.
You will be accompanied by our naturalist guide, speakers specializing in cetaceans or marine fauna in general (program to be announced).
This outing is for everyone: photographers, naturalists, and curious members of the public, and guarantees total immersion far from the coast!
For each cruise, a photo report is provided free of charge by the naturalists at Découverte du Vivant.
GOOD WEATHER CONDITIONS
Good weather conditions increase the chances of seeing whales and dolphins. More than just clear skies, it is the wind strength that will determine whether or not we can set sail. In calm seas, the slightest sign (fin, back, blow) on the surface of the water is visible from miles away. However, in winds above force 4, it becomes difficult to make successful observations due to the blow.
IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER
Confirmation of the cruise is determined by the weather reports issued 24 hours before departure. In case of cancellation, registered participants will receive an email and a text message. Those who have booked on our website will have the option of postponing their reservation using a postponement code, or receiving a refund (except for gift vouchers) via an online request. Those who booked directly at the dock will be asked to contact us to postpone or come to the dock for a refund (except for gift vouchers).
No refunds will be given to people who did not participate in the booked cruise without a valid reason. We can cancel your reservation if we are notified at least 24 hours in advance. Please also note that postponement to a later date is not automatic.
WHAT TO BRING?
Picnic, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat (that stays on!), windbreaker, and sweater (especially in spring and fall). Coffee and cold drinks are available for purchase on board.
ACCESSIBILITY
The sea cruise is accessible to people with disabilities. For people with reduced mobility, the boat can accommodate two standard wheelchairs (no motorized wheelchairs). Please note, however, that the toilets are not wheelchair accessible as they are too narrow.
PETS
Our friends the dogs, cats, hamsters, etc. are not allowed on board.
We do not recommend this excursion for children under 10, as it is a 10-hour trip, which may seem very long for younger children.
PRICES
- adult : 128€
- children (ages 4 to 12 inclusive) : 115€
